Originally from Casablanca, Morocco, Hassan Bounkit studied at the Univesity de Quebec in Montreal before attending the Dilazzari Fashion Institute in Florence Italy. Subsequently he worked at both Salvatore Ferragamo and Marella Ferrera couture houses.
In 1989 he moved to New York where he began assisting fashion designers Nicole Miller and Arnold Scaasi.
In 2001 he began working with jewelry designer Iradj Moini where he developed his knowledge and love for the trade. In 2006 the Bounkit line was created. Bounkit Designs are inspired by Victorian, South Asian and Mediterranean colors and themes. His handmade pieces are large, three-dimensional and exquisitely detailed. He is known for making the unusual combinations of materials, such as brass, silver, gold, bone, wood and crystals with imported natural gemstones that are individually hand set.
Each design created by Bounkit is one of a kind-no two pieces are exactly the same.
His jewelry is collected by loveliest of ladies of fashion and jewelry collectors worldwide. Among his celebrity customers are Oprah Winfrey and Blaine Trump.
